I struggled this Christmas with the age-old delima of "what do I get mom?" Every time I asked, I got "I have everything I need. Don't get me anything." Well, mother... that's not how Christmas works!

To break from the monotony of buying something fresh from the store - I decided to make something. What mother doesn't enjoy get an art project from her son for Christmas? Who cares if said son is twenty-four years old... deep down inside I'm the creative type. I like drawing, painting, designing... I like going nuts on a blank canvas every now and then.

I got this idea after seeing my super creative friend Jennifer's Crayon Monogram project. Then I saw @carlynmarae's photo on instagram. With a little coaching from both Jennifer @btflwhatshedoes on twitter and @carlynmarae on instagram, this is what transpired:

I've done a lot of driving over the past week. Almost 1,000 miles to be exact. I've been able to do some heavy thinking while I shimmy up and down I-26, and I have decided I need to slow it down. The nature of my job is fast paced - and I get so caught up in the 'go go go' that I never make time to enjoy the time I'm not working. Work life balance is where it's at. And even though it's not a new year, I've made a resolution to focus on just that. So here we go...
